ADA Policy
The YMCA is committed to ensuring that it will not discriminate against any individual on the basis of one’s disability. The YMCA will make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures when such modifications are necessary to afford its services and facilities to individuals with disabilities, unless the modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of its services.
The YMCA will not exclude any individual with a disability (or one’s association with a person with a disability) from the full and equal enjoyment of its services and facilities, unless the individual poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others that cannot be eliminated by a modification of policies, practices, or procedures or by the provision of auxiliary aids or services.
Membership Policies
2026 Membership Policies
A Membership Handbook has been developed that serves as a centralized compilation of the standards that guide participation, conduct, and engagement within our community. By assembling these policies in one place, we aim to eliminate confusion, ensure alignment across all levels of involvement, and promote transparency in how decisions and expectations are formed. It helps members understand procedures related to participation, communication, and adherence to organizational values. For non members and guests, the handbook serves as an introduction to our culture and provides clear behavioral expectations to ensure their interactions with the organization are respectful, safe, and aligned with our operational standards.
Parent Handbook
The Y believes that character development is essential in all of our programming. Our learning centers promote the four principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility and we help your child incorporate these principles into daily life. Y childcare centers and afterschool sites are licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services and meet the highest standards that stress quality and safety. We are dedicated to enhancing the spirit, mind, and body of all in a positive Christian environment through quality programs, services and facilities. Our curriculum, consistent policies, health and safety standards, and positive guidance are what set Y childcare apart.
Consumer Safety Manual
This Consumer Safety Manual is intended to provide guidance on the policies and procedures used by the YMCA of the Black Hills to promote the safety and well-being of children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our programs. It is for informational and training purposes only and does not constitute a contract or create any legal rights or obligations between the organization, its employees, volunteers, or participants.
Volunteer Handbook
The YMCA of the Black Hills is a special place to volunteer. We serve over 23,000 people each year and you have a chance to transform the lives of the members and program participants we serve. YOU are the key to our success. Whether you have just joined our team or have been at the YMCA for a while, we are confident you will find our agency a dynamic and rewarding place in which to volunteer. We look forward to a productive and successful partnership. We consider the volunteers of the YMCA to be one of our most valuable resources. Thank you for joining our YMCA team. We welcome you and look forward to working with you as we advance the YMCA’s mission in the communities we serve.
